Fly Fishing in the Drakensberg

The Drakensberg Mountains in KwaZulu Natal are home to an impressive collection of crystal clear dams and rivers where there are plenty of trout to be caught. Within the Northern Drakensberg region there are over 20 fly fishing locations.

Fishing in the Royal Natal National Park

The park is situated about 2 km from Mont Aux Sources Hotel; the Park shares a common boundary with the Rugged Glen Nature Reserve. Two stocked dams are available for fly fishing - the scenic 2 hectare RNNP Dam and the 1 hectare Rugged Glen Dam -. No boats or float tubes are allowed on the dams. Rainbow Trout and Brown Trout are the most common fish species available in the area and are a challenge on fly tackle. The stream fishing in the Northern Drakensberg is a challenge but the reward of catching a wild river run Brown or Rainbow in a scenic Drakensberg stream; make this an experience to savour.
